Wapato Valley Church was blessed when Patty began worshiping with us during COVID. Patty had been in college with members of our church and was setting up a home base in Forest Grove after serving in various Latin and South American countries. She is now serves as a trauma trainer and mentor with WEC.
Titus has been known to many in our church since he was in college. He worshiped and served through college with our church family. We have walked with Titus as he married Stephanie, started a family, and began serving in missions in Latin America. Their ministry has primarily been serving children and protecting them from exploitation. They now give extensive training to churches on trauma and safety protocols. They are based out of Spain with World Venture.
Rob has been known to many in our church body since he was in college and returned to his family home and announce his calling to the mission field of the French speaking people. We have walked through life with him as he has married and raised his family while serving in France, Canada, and Colorado. They are currently serving with World Venture in Canada in evangelism and church planting.
Jason was introduced to our church body as a friend who could cover a sermon while our pastor was on vacation. Jason and Sarah were both raised near Gaston. We were soon inspired by his family and his ministry at The Indian Bible College in Flagstaff, Arizona. We have now continued to support and serve the IBC for several years.
Thuy has been living and coaching in the Gaston area for years. She calls Wapato home and launching point for her missions. Thuy works with One Challenge in the US and all over the world to build bridges for the gospel through sports for all abilities. One Challenge exists to serve, equip, and connect the body of Christ and its leaders to advance God’s kingdom among all people.
Deacon + Deaconess of Missions
We became members of Wapato Valley Church in 2010 because our sons were interested in mission trips. At the time, Wapato was involved in yearly trips to Kings Kids Orphanage in Mexico.
Since then, we have been motivated to continue travel, local missions, and to support missionaries from our home. We have transitioned to leading the mission teams in the last few years and enjoy encouraging others to grow in their service experiences.
We believe that serving in unfamiliar places and in new roles with a singular focus on others’ needs is one of the key components to spiritual growth.
