Missions
To build passion and awareness for missions within the church family and promote participation in the Great Commission.
The missions team brings opportunities to participate in mission through confrences, service, prayer and giving; we want to broaden the understanding of the Great Commission. Growing a heart for people in need by encouraging and supporting the mission interest. There is also opportunites to act as a liason between current missionaries and our home church, as well as recommending new missionaries/missions for Wapato to support.

...therefore go!...
Upcoming Mission Trip: Spring 2010, Guaymas Mexico!
Want to put your faith in action? Be the hands and feet of Jesus! Consider joining our mission team during spring break 2010 as we travel to Guaymas, Mexico!
Our goal is to bless our missionaries, Jesse and Jenny Navarro, at the Kings Kids Orphanage and assist them in ministering and witnessing to their community - much of which was recently pounded by a hurricane. Work will likely include construction, evangelism, childrens' ministry, visiting a variety of churches, and participating in other ministry projects.
The trip is open to all ages on a first come, first serve basis. Only 21 slots available. **Passports are required!** Passports can take up to six weeks to process (meaning you should apply no later than Feb 1)
More details are in the making regarding flight information, exact departure date/time, and total cost; keep your eye out for updates.
In the mean time, be praying about this opportunity. Contact Lauren Quinsland at Q@pacificu.edu for any questions.
*Update 11/29*
Sorry for the delay in providing detailed details (hmm... is that a term?) - we've simply been in the preliminary stages of planning right now.
Keep your ear out for a formal information meeting to take place in the coming weeks.
Here's a brief snippet, however, of information that was discussed at the last missions meeting:
Dates: March 20-28 (we may attempt to leave Friday night, depending on cost).
Itinerary: flight to Phoenix or Prescott to meet with Heart for Missions, our partner organization, who will then bus us down to Guaymas.
*** you must have a passport in hand AT LEAST two weeks prior to departure
Who: Individuals, Couples, Families; anyone is welcome! Please note, however, children under age 14 are required to have a parent accompany them. Please also consider that though infants, toddlers, and small children are welcome to come, the Guaymas region is considered a third-world environment; there are limited amenities and no form of daycare or other supervision.
Activities: our schedule will likely include evangelism outreaches, sports ministry, a VBS (or similar) program, light construction work, showing the Jesus Film, ministering to the poor, and assisting in the orphanage.
Cost: currently we are estimating around $600-$700 per person (depending on airfare). A schedule for making deposits will be issued along with application. A portion of the total cost must be contributed independently (in other words, you personally will have to pay some in addition to fundraising).
Training: orientation and training will begin in late January. Q will be leading us through the workbook "Before You Pack Your Bags, Prepare Your Heart" to help aquaint us with the culture, review expectations, and provide a solid basis for our mission. Attendance at training sessions is mandatory. A schedule of trainings will be distributed with the application. These trainings will also include a field trip and an outreach event.
The Heart For Missions applications and all additional information will be distributed as soon as it becomes available.
